Information You Submit
A name, telephone number, or address entered in a search form is sent to the outside provider that supplies those results. Our servers do not retain a copy of a search. A message sent to us contains only the information included in that message, which is used to respond.
Automatically Collected Data
Hosting services create standard server logs, which can include an IP address, browser type, visited pages, and timestamps. We review aggregate activity to maintain the service and understand which pages are used. Cookies or similar tools may support basic analytics and, where applicable, advertising measurement.
How Information Is Used
Information is used to operate the reference, fix technical problems, measure traffic, and improve content. We do not sell visitor lists or create individual visitor profiles.
External Links
Links may lead to county or state record portals, libraries, archives, and outside search tools. The privacy practices of those services apply to information submitted there, including information entered in sponsored search results.
Service Providers and Disclosure
Providers that host or support the reference process server logs for us. Analytics and advertising partners can receive the automatic data described above. Information is disclosed when valid legal process requires it and not otherwise.
Safeguards and Retention
The reference uses an encrypted connection, and logs are retained only for the purposes stated above. There are no visitor accounts, passwords, or account profiles here to expose.
Visitors Under 18
This reference is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If you believe a minor provided information, contact us so it can be removed.
Your Privacy Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, portability, or an opt-out for personal data held by a covered private controller. Tennessee Information Protection Act guidance has described those rights for covered private-sector controllers since the law took effect July 1, 2025. Because this reference retains very little, a request generally involves the contact mailbox and server logs. Use the Contact page to ask. Records held by Tennessee, Shelby County, or Collierville custodians are outside our control, so a record-removal request belongs with that custodian.
Policy Updates
Changes to this policy appear here. Continued use after a posted update means the updated policy applies.
